I was on fifth and engine was reved up high. I could feel the vibration of the engine on the handlebar. If I try to go faster, would it strain the engine? Will I hurt my savage by going faster? How fast have you taken your stock savage?

How fast have you taken your stock savage?

It is revving high because its geared low.

Reply #4 - 04/18/10 at 17:16:42 red line is 6500 rpm, you can't get there except in 1st. 5th gear, 6500 rpm is about 100 mph. I've done 95, uphill with a quicksilver carb. stock engine with supertrapp, I normally go uphill at 85ish.

The others took off to pass the guy, so I gunned it. I had it thru 85 before I realized it. (white spacer mod, Lancer Jets & a Dyna SE pipe)

Very true Routy,... but most don't want it for a higher top speed,... just for a lower Rpm cruise at 70 mph...
The bike don't mind going 70,... people just like the lazy sound of runnin' lower Rpm's...
