can anyone explain to me how to adjust the gear shifter height? right now i have to lift my foot off the peg to shift and it's kind of annoying.

there's a rod connecting the shift peg with a lever on the engine.
there's 2 nuts on the rod, loosen both.
turn the rod to raise or lower the shift peg.
lock in place by tightening the 2 nuts.

Yes, if you adjust it so you don't have to pick up your foot to downshift, you may have trouble getting your toe under it to up shift.

Remember that one of those nuts is a wrong-hand thread... I think.  It's been awhile since I did that, but it seems like that was an issue.

The rod is like a turn buckle.  loosen both lock nuts, one left handed and one right handed, and turn the rod to raise or lower the pedal.
Lock the nuts down and Bob's your uncle.
