Sundowner Seat for Savage

I saw a couple posts asking if the Sundowner seat could be modified to fit the Savage.  We printed the technical document for the sportster seat modification to get started.  The Sundowner comes with a longer tongue in the front than the sportster.  It is also mounted into the plastic, so moving it would be very difficult.  Instead, we added 1" bushings under the tank mount to raise the tank, then bolted the tank back down without the cross-bracket.  To give the tongue space and to support the front of the seat, we cut a 1-1/4" groove in the vertical tank support and painted the exposed metal with black rustoleum to prevent rusting.  Next, we moved the regulator down the slope of the frame to just below the original rear seat mounting hole, drilled a couple holes and remounted the regulator.  We cut off the rear bracket so the passenger seat would sit flat.  Then, pushed the seat as far forward as possible to get as much tongue in the groove and to make it sit snug against the tank.  This brought the rear bracket on the seat away from the tail light.  We drilled a small hole through the fender and the metal plate that protects the wires to the tail lights.  This gap was just enough to slip a nut in to prevent the wires from rubbing on the bolt.  We secured the seat down with a 13mm bolt, lock washer, flat washer, put a rubber washer between the bracket and the fender, threaded it through the nut below, through the bottom plate and capped it with a lock nut.  (Just make sure the wires are out of the way!)  Lastly, we bent the side support brackets down so the didn't push on the seat, removed one of the rubber supports from the old passenger seat, cut it in half, and slipped the knob onto the brackets so the main seat rested on the solid rubber supports rather than directly on the metal.  It is super comfy and looks great!  I will attach pics soon.
