OK -- the weekend's coming up, so here's your assignment:

I want a statue or memorial to an obscure war or military engagement.

In other words, not WW' I or II, Vietnam, Civil War, American Revolution or Civil War -- and if it's the Indian Wars, Little Big Horn doesn't count 'cause everyone knows about it!  And for Maurizio -- nothing involving Napoleon, Garibaldi or Pope Julius.

For example:

In British Columbia (I think it's in Victoria, but it could be Vancouver) there is this statue:

It's a memorial to the Canadians who went to fight against Franco in the Spanish Civil War.

Got the idea?

OK, obscurity counts!

And have fun!   Grin

Great job guys!!

And I'm thinking that Serowbot is too shy to show his helmet hair!   Wink

I actually had a couple of Saloons in mind, but am nursing a terrible cold and haven't felt like riding (I know, hard to believe!!)  I'm hoping to be back in this hunt over the weekend!

This is a memorial to the Chippewa and Fox Indians.  Here at the head of St. Croix Falls in about 1770, a war party of Chippewas led by Chief Wau-bo-jeeg prepared for battle against their traditional enemies, the Fox and Sioux.  You can read more about it at:  http://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=14421

gotta be honest with you guys, the scavenger hunt should only have challanges and pictures, no chit chat... I'vve seen it work great on other bike and car forums, just like that...

thats just my opinion though

Wow!  That was quick!  Congrats PB -- what's our next challenge?

And reminding us that the Sioux started out a whole lot further East than where the main reservations are now.

Ok, here's the next challenge.  Find a building that is not abandoned and has a round window at least 2 feet in diameter and can't be a porthole from a ship or boat.  Good luck!  Hopefully you will have a better day than me.  Rode for about 100 miles, then dumped my bike for the first time at the end of the ride.  Hit some loose gravel at the end of our driveway  Sad  Only victim was the rear tail light....not even a dent in the gas tank!!!

Comments are fine as long as they relate to the Hunt.    Just stay on topic!  So far, so good!!

May I have a door in the middle of the window?

I guess you can have a door in the middle as long as the door is glass too and yes, the window should be at least 2 feet in diameter, not just a small one like they put in residential homes.  I want to see a real architectural/artistic type  window.
