Ing Switch wiring help. Yea it started!!!
03/09/10 at 13:15:24

Here is a picture of the rigged starter switch, it has 4 terminals
the start terminal in the middle has no wire connected to it.
orange wire connected to ing.
the red w/white wire is connected to acc
the two brown and gray are connected to batt.
I am getting no power to the starter, all the light work I also have pwr at the coil. My? is what wires can i us to bypass the switch and hot wire the bike.
and what is the correct order for the wires on the ing switch.
Thanks for your help in advance, I guess my next step should be to by a manual for the bike.

A biker shouldn’t be defined by the motorcycle he/she rides, but by the passion they have for it.

Not to insult you, but sometimes the obvious gets missed:  Is the kill switch in the correct position?

Even in the service manual does not specify, look at my first  picture again, the start terminal  has no wire connected to it, if any one might know or feels like pulling there ing switch cover off and looking behind it to confirm which wire goes where, much appreciated. not my first bike but thanks for all the insight.

Someone seriously needs to dig up my posts on how to solve this. Ive sworn to never type it again, & Im NOT. My bike will turn over w/o the key in it because of a TINY switch connecting the red wire ( 12 V) under the seat to the decomp timer. You dont need the switch except to turn the power on  to the coil  for my little deal to work.

1st, this aint the stock switch, somebody done stole it offa da ford.  couldn't keep it runnin' anyway.

To hot wire it... pretty simple, take all the wires and twist them together.  Don't let it touch anything lessin' you wanna lite yor @$$ on fire.  The red one with a wht stripe is hot, the rest take a convoluted path to ground.

Does that thing have a connector on it?  If it does, you can replace it with another stock one.

The starter should work off of the button on the right grip.

I know you don't got stock, but in case you do...
power should come off the starter button and go thru the clutch switch to the decomp controller then on to the starter relay.

Yea it started... I feel better about my $270 investment.
But as usual it was the simplest thing  holding me up!!!
all I needed to do was pull in the clutch in to start it....
my other bikes don.t require this when in neutral... haha Tongue
now it is time to get started on the retro rebuilding of the bike.
thanks for all your help guys.
