s40 among the cruisers

To all,

How does the s40 fair with other cruisers on outstation excursions, this is vis a vis performance, durability, acceleration, keeping with the crowd, handling and nimbleness.... especially with stalwarts like HD/Honda/Triumphs/yamaha.

If the speed limit is maintained... your limitations are your gas tank and your but.
as nimble, quicker off the line and will stick with them untill you hit 75.

With some of the basic mods to carb and exhaust the LS650 will stay with any group of bikes as long as they are not heavy throttle handed sport bikers.
The good usable torque of this bike makes it a very good road bike.  Power is good, mpg is good but like mentioned already the small tank limits to about 100 mi between stops.  But I need to stretch and walk around a bit after 100 mi anyway.
/
The bike is only 350 lbs, has good handling and is very easy to ride in the curves compared to any other cruiser out there.

Yes, some things are needed, like ...
Progressisve shock on the rear are really good
Use a little heavier wt oil in the forks and install a fork brace for much better control and handling
A good quality seat is necessary for long term comfort.
Ad those to the carb/exhaust mods and the bike is absolutely transfored

ENJOY

If you don't go over 65 mph it will work above that its not to stable,Compared to all other bikes even smaller bikes. The front end is to light.

Up to 75 MPH (no headwind) it will do very well with other larger cruises and better in twisties with its light weight and better clearence. For long trips take a spare gas can as the S40 will need it sooner than most.  I did a trip of 500+ miles through the mountains with a Yamaha VStar 1100 and Harley of 1600 cc's and had no issues keeping up.

My Savage (see my signature) is my "daily rider" (I don't own a cage).

I use the bike almost exclusively in an urban environment, where it will, I believe, hang with any other cruiser out there.
