Stock tires wet roads
12/15/09 at 16:15:42

The wet season just started here in Oregon and it will continue for several months.  Sad I have stock tires with only 1,000 miles on them.  From what I have read, in other posts, these tires are really bad in wet conditions.  This is my first bike so it is my only frame of reference.  I plan on riding year round which means a lot of wet roads.   I do not want to spend more then I have to.  Are these tires  abysmal enough that I should replace them?

Na,.. on wet roads, no bike tire is really that good...
Just don't ride it 'till it's bald...
The rain grooves are important... Wink

When it comes time,... switch to Dunlop 404's for the best bang for buck tire...

..and be careful... intersections and road marking paint, are particularly slick in rain....

anything metal too. train tracks, sewer grates, manhole covers etc. And be REAL careful puttign your feet down. Ive had my left foot slip out from under me once when coming to a stop in the rain with my right foot up on the foot peg. Didnt drop the bike but I did stretch a little further than i wouldve liked.

Glad to hear I can keep my money clip clipped.  I just dropped some $$$ on waterproof gear.  I didn't want to drop my bike too.   Wink

Man, watch out for the cold too, even if there's no water or ice, and you have good tires.  Just the other day I was riding around on Avon Distanzas in perfectly dry weather, and I still got dumped on my butt because I forgot the tires were cold.

My stockers felt as sure on the dry road as a cue stick with a juicy booger on it feels on a cue ball.
