Hi all, would anybody know what the type bolts that are used to torque the head cover down are called,,cheers

the ones that hold the head cover on to the cylinder head they are hex topped with flat underside like a washer cheers

mine (2003) Savage are 10mm (wrench size) hex with washer as part of the bolt head as you described.  I don't have the chromed plastic covers, so I just went out and looked at them.

No.  I assume he meant the valve covers; they are as I described and sort of black.

Yep!! Nick that's them, valve cover holder downers, I was wondering if there was a special name for them(apart from swears) as they have the washer incorporated(phew, that's a big one) In them. Mine are getting a bit round on the hex as they've been on and off so often, so I am looking to buy new ones but I would need to know the right mechanical(another big one) name for them,,,cheers

Ahhh!,...the confusion comes from us having a dress up cover,... then valve covers,... then a cam cover....


I believe they are called "Indented Hex Washer" bolts...

Indented... for the dip on top
Hex... for the head shape
Washer... for the washer bottom...

Yippeeee!!!!!! At last, I don`t have the plastic chrome covers either as well also and that's what was causing the confusion
