My bike,... Before and After...
11/12/09 at 09:49:22

Just found this pic of my bike, taken the day I bought it...

Before...

in the interim, I bought a black fixer-upper and swapped some parts... paid $600 and sold it for $1500...

After...

Nothing drastic,... but a very different bike now...
Hope it inspires you to make yours fit you too,....  It's a great bike to mod... Wink

Huh!.... You're English, and you don't like gators?....  I'm shocked!.... Grin

The bag is just a leather tool bag... I usually stow my gloves in there, or a water bottle... Wink

I like it, The signals are tidy, the rear fender looks good.
What is the plastic thing across the forks above the light? Whats it for? Is it a visor?
I like the look of gators, its just that they mean theres no room for a brace..
I like the look of Bobbers, like Lancers rig, just, I want a front fender & a place to haul stuff. If I had the $$$$ Id have one for errands & another to dress out, well, Bob down. & stick all the performance crap in I could GET in. Stage II cam, Gettin It carb, Supertrapp, Da' Wurx..

Yup,... it's a helmet visor turned upside down... mini windshield, but mostly, it makes a sort'a basket, I use to tote little things, like DVD rentals or small packages... Wink

Silly question...How do you get the black plastic shock covers on?  I mean, did you have to take them off to slip on or are they cut and you stretch them over?

Those are called gators,.. or fork boots... Wink
You have to slide the fork tubes out from the triple clamp, and put them on from the top...  It's really not so bad...
They protect the tubes and fork seals...
Good time is when you're replacing a front tire anyway,... but it only takes 20 minutes or so anytime...

Nice after bike.  I was wondering about the round mirrors on the before bike.  Do you know if they were the originals?  That handle bar doesn't look like an original Savage.  I have been looking for some round mirrors for my 2004.  Wanted something kinda like what I see in that picture.  Any info you could provide on them would be nice.  Thanks

Hi Mac,
The bars on the before picture are stock,...the mirrors were cast-offs from a Honda 750 Shadow Spirit...
They would be very expensive new... try a search on e-bay for an equivalent aftermarket.
My buddy Gerry just checked the dealer for a stock pair from a Yamaha and got a price of $270,  I found the same thing aftermarket for $20 on e-bay...

Maybe these would suit you?... Wink...

The gators will add to the life of your fork seals, and they have a nice classic look.
