Lancer - wheel questions
11/10/09 at 16:36:51

Been wracking my brain as to why we have the same rear wheel but your installation was far more simple than mine. If you get the chance would you be so kind as to take a look at the rim and see if its got the size stamped on there? And if you remember next time you need the wheel off could you measure rear spacers? Mine's off a gs450, dont remember the year. '82-'85? Rim size is 2.15x16in. Is your rear rim possible off a 500/550?

Looking around online im still getting conflicting info as to wheel sizes for the same and different models/years.

The rear wheel is a Suzuki '83 GS 550L unit, and is marked with J 16xMT2.50.  The spacers, as best as I can measure on the mounted wheel are 27mm on the left and 22mm on the right side.

I believe I listed the parts sources in the "REX" thread

man...i must've misread...over and over. I swore both wheels and your front end were from a 450 while you had a set of 550's you had yet to tinker with. Makes more sense now.

I went back to check what I wrote before and I screwed up.  I have the file in front of me today and the purchase showed that the rear wheel is from an '83 550.  Too many parts, my 3 good brain cells get confused.

There were a few in the GS series with 17" wheels; don't remember which ones off hand.  I've got a chart somewhere, but have not seen it in a while.  I stuck it somewhere where I would not loose it; now all I have to do is find it.-

An 88 thru 06 GS500E or F had 17" wheels front and back.
I have no idea if the drive or brakes are the same.
Check if the bolt circle is the same on the disk and sproket.
If the bolt circle is the same as the front disk as a gs450 disk there's a solution.
Look at the dampers, same number?  you maybe in luck.
Front and rear axles are the same diameter.

Becareful, the biggest OD on the tire for the savage is a little over 25"
You may be constrained to a skinny tire.

Not that I'd be able to afford it,... without one fallin' from the sky...
but,  I was hopin' for a low profile with as fat as possible...
I have ton's of rear suspension with 12" shocks...

I found my wheel chart.  The '89-02 GS500E has low profile 110/70-17 and 130/70-17 wheels; the rear has a disc.
The '81-83 GS450T/TX has a 110/90-17; the rear is the same drum brake as the Savage.
(brake info is from my Sudco dealers catalog)
The 450 used a 530 chain and the 500 used a 520 chain.
