I dont have the mod - and I did not have to take the tank off ?
The seller gave me this spark plug tool that came with the bike.
It is very basic but did the job....
I wanna know then how you did it. I cannot figure out how to change the plug without removing the tank. Please tell me how you did it.
Unless your bike had the covers removed by the PO....

Well - currently I am at home fighting a cold - but when I feel better I will take a picture of the small spark plug tool that the previous owner gave me , and I will take a picture of the spark plug area as well, as far as I can tell nothing was done- the bike is stock.
When he gave me the tool he said "this is to remove the spark plug without taking off the tank", it is a little tight but I did it in under 2mins. And I don't have small hands, by any means.

Maybe the dirt on the streets where you live isnt so gritty as here. Maybe yours just doesnt get "Down there", like it does here. I always blow compressed air around the plug before I pull it. Once, I didnt & once, I found some nasty crap right by the hole, so I put grease on a bamboo skewer & felt around down inside the engine. I pulled out a couple of chunks that fell in. NOW I always blow it out, before I pull that plug,

Where can this spark-plug be found? I went to O'rielly's and they didn't have it. Gonna check other parts house tomorrow.

That's a great idea. Thanks

id love to see this tool. Even with the stock tool and no chrome head covers the seat and tank have to be removed for me to get at the plug. I dont need to remove them but i might aswell. I still have to loosen everything.

ok, so there is no chrome cover on the left side of the engine.....my bad guys - sorry to get your hopes up.
But I did not have to take the tank off....
- if you google spark plug tool - there are tons of images of it...... just 2 pieces - one for the spark plug and another to turn it.
cheers

cutting the stock tool from the Suzuki kit makes it a lot easier to get the plug in and out.

If they do not stock it they should be able to order one for you. Auto parts stores are usually cheaper than a bike shop.
