WHEN I do finally decide to clean it up, I use pure silicone oil, not Armorall, on the plastic around the speedo, the cables, clutch cover, etc, everything that isnt painted or chromed, pretty much. I get it from copier repair places. Old copiers use it in the fuser section, so its called Fuser Oil.
Ive been told Some types have damaged plastic, but I havent seen that happen. I also use it on the cars. It lasts for months & months, unlike Armorall, which I suspect actually causes dashes to crack.
Call around & see if you can buy a pint for cheap. I pad $5.00 a pint for 4 pints. oughta last me for life. Minolta or Ricoh oil is what I ask for. Dont want it watery thin, or syrup thick..but thin is better than thick, for application purposes.
I oil the plastic b4 I wax, cuz wax wont stick to the oiled plastic & make it look odd.
