Update on ButtyBuddy
09/11/09 at 06:27:07

A few weeks ago I posted about the agonies my girlfriend has with the seat on our 2007 S40.  A few of you suggested the ButtyBuddy, so I shelled out the 150 bucks and got one. We have about 600 miles on it, including a 200 mile day, and here are our impressions

Hers : she loves it. Best thing I can say is she says she now "never think about the seat". Before this, we had to stop every hour to let her get some relief. Her only complaint is that if I don't get the Buttybuddy exactly level on the seat when I put it on, it shifts her weight and she feels like she is always tipping to one side, so be meticulous about that.

Mine - it does raise her about an inch and half, and that affects the handling some - nothing I can't get used to, but it makes the bike feel a little more top heavy. Cost wise, is it "worth it?" - well, I must admit that when I look at the thing itself, it looks a little disappointing for what it costs - I would say that the actual physical seat itself looks like it might be worth 50 bucks, and the rest of the cost goes into the considerable research and development it took to come up with the idea - I don't object to that, it is a really good idea, it does what it is supposed to do, and the guys who came up with it should be compenstated for their efforts. For me it is most certainly worth what it cost (plus 30 bucks shipping) because it tremendously increased my ability to ride with my girlfriend, and that has no real price. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

"There is a variety of gel pads and air cushions on the market today, but at best, they can only add some padding to a seat that is simply too narrow and lacks proper shape. ButtyBuddy is a full size 13.5 inch portable passenger seat…that’s the same size seating area as the factory driver’s seat on a Harley Softail! It incorporates the all comfort benefits of hi-density closed cell cushioning and a concave ergonomic shape that provides firm and correct support for the posterior and lower back. You’ll see why it has earned the name “the thousand mile seat”!

Looks comfy...  Smiley

I've had a ButtBuddy for about 2 years and when my wife does ride, her complains about discomfort are nil. Now if they just come up with something to muzzle her.

You could always trim the height of the seat down in the rear by an inch or two, then you'd be right at stock level with that added.

diamond jim has some pics of his throughout the forum of it and it looks slick.

My wife loves her butbuddy. For her the fact that it is up higher is all the better. She hates not being able to see around me.

I look at these and keep wondering, "Why couldn't a ButtBuddy be modified to be a solo rider's seat?"

I thought the same thing when I first heard of them.

But,I had no idea they were that wide!!
That's a good,even better thing!

So maybe someone can suggest how to do that!
Or instead of buying one...maybe,just get ideas from it Undecided

I think the buttyBuddy is the best add on I have done yet.
My wife loves takes about 400 miles for her to start to complain.
And it only take about 1 min to install or remove it.  Smiley

OK, am I the only one that caught the comment from Jimmer about muzzling his wife?  Please tell me his kidding.  Right?  A more practical solution is both of you wearing helmets.

"What?  What did you say dear?  I can't hear you."    Wink That one works both ways actually.  LOL Just make sure you dont get those mics/headsets.
