Spring seats are really fun -- especially the first time you throw the bike into a corner and centrifugal force pushes your butt to the outside of the turn!

Reply #3 - 08/31/09 at 11:12:52 duuuuuuuuuuude ! that looks wicked! actually, the bike looks evil!! very nice!! i've been wantin to remove the chrome rails on the rear fender but not sure if water splashing on the turn signal wires would mess with them. are your turn signals wires ran under the rear fender?

Reply #4 - 08/31/09 at 11:23:28 They are under the fender only for a couple of inches, then they come out one of the holes left behind from the rails and go up under the seat, where they are zip tied together to keep tension on them. The original insulating sleeve so far seems to be doing ok.

I bet that is a much needed comfort with the shocks gone. No shocks, no spring seat make my butt hurt just looking at them.

Is a LaRosa with billet aluminum pan. Took some creative hammering to make former seat mounts into spring mounts....LOL I have yet to ride since i put in on. Been busy with other stuff. Maybe today or tomorrow...hmmm

Probably put about 250-300 miles on this since the initial build.
It would not recommend a hardtail to anyone who hasn't had
a good amount of riding under their belt. lol (Roughly 25 years
for me, ugh)
There are......unexpected differences in handling.
Low and slow. Just the way i like it.

Rocco, good idea, better safe than sorry with wiring.

I also use these for routing (taillight wires behind struts, etc.)
You can use zip ties to help hold them on if you stick these to frame rails, or anything round.
Can get in black, i get 'em at WalMart for a couple bucks per 6, i think.

Reply #12 - 08/31/09 at 22:07:15 i tried the "no shocks and no spring seat" mod.....yea, not for long i did notice the ride difference (which i liked) and the fact that my kickstand was too long and the bike stood almost straight up. my back and rump took a beating!

If the scissor springs don't afford enough relief, then i may go to 2 inch coils instead.
