Interstate is just a battery marketer. Their auto batteries are made by Johnson Controls, their deep cycle are made by U.S. Battery, and their small batteries might indeed be made by Yuasa.
The general rule for battery storage is to either connect an automatic charger if in storage for a month, or to connect a manual charger one day a month. As always, keep the electrolyte level in range by adding distilled water as needed. A trickle charger in the 1 amp range is good, and no more than 2 amps if the battery needs a full charge. Allowing a battery to discharge shortens its life, and in winter, allows it to freeze if cold enough. A discharged battery freezes easily. A fully charged lead acid battery freezes at -65°F.
My current favorite trickle charger, Soniel 12v 1 amp Constant Current Charger.
