I'm installing a new Emgo muffler.  It ended up taking a bit of work to get the stock muffler off - several bolts had rusted pretty badly and one broke off.  I ended up having to take the header off I (there's supposed to be a gasket there, right?).  Anyways, I end up dry fitting everything back together and just finger tightening.  The support arm for the stock muffler is just a little bit in the way of letting the new muffler fit perfectly.  I know I could get a little elbow piece to swing the muffler out and up a bit, but I like the way it looked coming straight back.  

Is there a way to remove that arm that won't interfere with anything else?  I don't really have time for a long project of rerouting stuff if that's what it will require.  I'm loathe to cut anything off, but would that be a possibility - just cut the end off of that?  Or could I just bend it a bit?

you want to dont dump exhaust gasses on your rear brake cable and lever..
go to the local muff shop have them fab you a 7 deg 10 in long(dont trust my numbers!!) adaptor .. check the tech section there is at least 4 years of posts on the adaptor...

I have an HD on mine. No fabirication required. I don't care if it blows on my rear brake assembly or parts. Works fine for me. I like the shortened look!

bill - I ended up getting a similar muffler to the Dunstall replica, but shorter.  It easily fits without physically touching the brake lever.

That arm bent a little bit as I was trying to get the stock muffler off.  Not a real clean downward bend, but kind of twisting down and in towards the bike.  I think I could get another inch or so out of it.  I may try that to see if it will work - if not, I think I'll cut a little bit of it off.  I don't plan on selling the bike for several years at least and I will never put anything resembling the stock muffler back on it.  That thing was like a hunk of concrete.
