It looks like I should be able to access the bolts without pulling it, but would it simply be easier to pull off the back wheel? Anyone willing to offer any tips before I do this? Here's the fender that's coming off...

You will have to remove the rear tire to get the rear fender off.

I must be pretty good at doing things in small spaces, Grin

I swapped fenders last night, and I
didn't pull the back tire off. I was worried about keeping the belt in alignment Undecided

so instead I
just took the studded struts off and dropped the swingarm and wheel down as far as they could
go without hitting the exhaust. Huh

It was a tight fit, but I think I saved myself the headache of
trying to align the belt. Cheesy

Thanks for the advice though.

I got my rear fender off and back on w/ drop spacers no problem? Just undo the shocks/struts and lift the bike up on a lift. The back wheel will drop down enough to be able to access the 4 bolts holding the rear fender to the frame. The muffler and/or exhaust may have to be removed to do this tho. Mine were already off for mods. HTH anyone wanting to remove the rear fender or put some spacers on it and drop it 3/4"-1"

Yes dropping the rear shocks is the way to go, but if you strip a bolt, you're shafted.
The other way to do it, you can drill into the other side of the bolts and hammer in a small non spiralled thread estracter. It looks like a long phillips screw driver - its an old school tool, almost extinct these days.

I have done that way but dropping the shock is good if you dont strip the thing.
