Cylinder head removal

Anyone know if it's necessary to pull the engine out of the frame to remove the cylinder head? I'm referring to the actually cylinder head, not the head cover.

Tia,

It depends on the frame tolerance of your particular bike. On the FireLizard if I remove all the engine mounts except the very rear, I can tilt the engine forward and be able to remove the head with engine still in frame.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

Ken I did the same, loosen but leave the lower rear through bolt in place and the engine tipped down enough to slide the head off the studs. Max

Well, tilting the engine forward moved it just enough to get the head off. That saves a bit of work. Too bad the front chain guide can't come out without removing the head.

I wonder if the old head gasket can be reused?
