running rich, and maybe new brakes time

Hey all,

For those running vm carbs. I have sealed my muffler good. No leaks. I am running rich at idle. I get the black smoke when I throttle at idle and can smell it. It will run great for about 40km then I start to bog down. My air screw is about 2.5 turns out (lean). I am getting backfire again lol and a flame with a soft poof on shutdown. so far not black smoke. I have a 160main jet and needle space is sitting two spots from the bottom (needle sitting high the carb) thus more rich. Should I lower my needle? Oh my daj is middle setting, maybe go leaner? My front brakes are starting squeek a little. My rear brakes squeek when pressed down on hard braking as well. Time for new brakes?

That's the braking announciator, usually followed by the jake brake.
When done properly and in unison, it will clear all obstructions.
Practice your wolf whistle at stop signs.

Check your pad thickness and forget about it.
