Perhaps the two problems are related.  You might have a wheel bearing seizing up.
Raise each wheel and see that they are turning freely.
This can be dangerous, don't delay.

Most likely one of your brakes is dragging.  Two tests.
One, lift it up and spin each wheel to check for friction.
If this is only an occasional thing, when it happens again, get off and feel (WITH THE BACK OF YOUR FINGERS) the front brake disc, then he rear brake hub.
Yes it can be a very dangerous thing, and incredibly fast wearing for the brakes. If it is a brake dragging problem, take the wheel off and check the wheel bearings too. The heat generated will burn the lubrication out of the bearings and then they are wasted.

in neutral with the bike off can you roll it around easy? and 80 miles? how does (or did) it run? did it accelerate smooth or choke and sputter? maybe a float sticking.....
for a bike thats supposed to get a couple hundred miles on a tank you would think that fuel would be drippin out the tailpipe. hows the oil level? pull the cap and see if it smells like fuel. it has to be going somewhere...

If the brakes got wet (at least on cagers) they can stick.
Have you ever had the rear wheel off?
Might be a good time to check the rear brakes.

If it can drag, it can lock, IMO. I would take it real slow, ride around, study it, never faster than I would be willing to fall. You gotta get this figured out before you run it on down the road any more.

Driving an old Mack truck, 5 speed, weighing right at 80,000 pounds. No power steering. Slack in the front end, wore out old oilfield truck. Every now & then the front tires would start shimmying left & right, hard & fast. I whined & whined, finally, they called a tire man to come check it. He couldnt figure it out. Next trip out, running on a 2 lane road, it went crazy & the left front blew out. Instant lane change into oncoming. Headed for a power pole. I stood up & got my arms out of the wheel that had wrapped me up & started pulling back to the right. Just missed the pole. Got shut down w/o taking any fences out or hitting anyone.
The Point? If something is giving a warning, pay attention & dont settle for not finding it.
