With my HD seat mod, the structure is too thin to support shear on the pin.  So I bent the frame bracket up abit and drilled into the frame for the pin.  Now there's a double shear type connection, very stable.

But I like your idea just to drill the seat bracket and I have some more quick pins that might work perfectly.  Will try tonight.

Most likely, they're made by Space-Lok inc.

I bought them thinking they may be long enough for my sportster mod.  But are a little too short for that.

Put the pins in. WOW. Easy mod, makes things so much better. This mod should go in the Technical Section, with better pics than I'm capable of taking. This one is bound to catch on as one of the "must do" on everyones list.

I put the pins in today too, but with my Sportster pillow seat mount mod, the seat seems too wobbly. I think I'm going to have to either use carriage bolts and wing nuts on the outside, or just drill out the hole and move up to a larger diameter pin. It was a great idea though.
