Hello. I just joined the site. I was happy to find you guys. I will be receiving my 2006 Black s40 this PM from a private seller (via craigslist). This would be my first bike. Hope to learn alot from this site and be able to share pix and experiences. Here are some quick questions:
how much for insurance are you guys paying?
are their any riding groups in NE Ohio for s40?
is 2500 too much to pay for stock 2006 black s40?

Thanks... I am excited to get it today.... Later.

Good Morning, Gideon1986.
You found a GREAT site! There is SO much great info here! You'll learn a LOT  about your new bike.Smiley

As for insurance costs, I'm payin' $175 per year through Progressive on my 2007 S40. That's FULL coverage, too...

Hope this helps!

Enjoy that bike!
Cool

$1000.45CAD for liability (one way insurance) at age 27 and clean driving record. And that is the cheapest rate in town. I have my cage elsewhere for now, we will see if the moto-insurance can give the same great deal on the cage as ING and hopefully save on both vehicles.

99.00 a year (liability/progressive ins.) since i turned mine into a bobber if i break something i just re-fabricate it! no need for full coverage for me...

welcome to the site! great people here, so glad i found it!
the price sounds right for a 06' take it for a quick ride first.

oh and as far as the lingo:
stocker = errr...stock
chopper = extended front forks, lowered chassis
bobber = less is better, old school look or ratted out
bagger = lots o bags! ...heh

$350 PER YR for everything but collision. Next yr may take off the Fire & Theft and save $85 per yr.
Its looking like old age has some advantages, at least up here in Canada Smiley

I hate you right now lol. Moto-insurance is such a mafia in Ontario lol. I swear their are more empty-nesters (over 40) riding yet they save. They really should be the higher liability group since their are more and thus more targets for cars lol But noooo! Us 20 something-ers get the stiff one eye from the man. lol

I hear ya. My step son pays about 1k a year too. He's 26. It seems insurance is the only business that can practice age descrimination. He's riding for his 1st year, just got his MC licence. I'm thinking his crotch rocket is one of the reasons its so high. One day he will get wise & realize the Savage is the best way to go.  Wink

Thanks for the welcome and quick responses. Well, I got my Savage (I will call her "Aliza") this PM, around 3. I will work this week on registering Aliza to my name and getting a temp license plate. AM I missing something guys? On Thursday, I will take my HD RidersEdge class. Hopefully, I will be cruising two weeks from now. I am very excited. I will also get pix later.
