New Pics after a few mods. (Updated)
04/10/09 at 07:28:36

Hola fellows and fellowettes. I thought I would share pics of a few of my latest mods. I changed out my stock buckhorns with some 10" Apes yesterday. No problems at all with the bars. I had to reroute one cable which was the clutch cable. Also I took all the stock lisence plate stuff off and mounted it on the side (possible light to come later, i think it is a law in TN). Also I had done Diamond Jims rear fender lowering a while back. I think I used 3/4 inch rubber pieces if I'm not mistaken.

Haha thought I would throw this one in there.

Very nice. Like the bars. Where did you get them and did they have them in flat black?

How to turn the brake line down.
Wrap a rag around the banjo to catch any drippings.
Loosen the banjo bolt while squeezing the brake lever.
Only loosen enough to loosen the banjo.
Turn the banjo down as appropriate.
Retighten and release the lever.
refill brake fluid.

Awesome.  Very clean.  In the third pic, the front brake line looks pretty tight.  Do what Verslagen said and rotate the banjo bolt down.  It'll give you maybe another 3/4" of brake line length.

To really finish out the look I think a set of sleeker mirrors would look sweet and would complete the personality of the bike.  The ones you've got now look great on other handlebars but to me they just don't quite look right on your apes. I'm thinking the curvy, sweeping lines of the apes conflict with the square edges of the mirrors.  Just my opinion.  If you do swap them there's no need to spend a small fortune.  Were it my bike I'd look for some Suzuki C50 OEM mirrors cheap on ebay.  Maybe something like these:

That little fender lowering mod does make it look better.  Nice.

A last detail- I'm not a big fan of the chrome trim stuff people put on the seam/edge around the bottom of a gas tank.  For some reason though it seems like some thin chrome edging would look great on your bike.  Maybe it's the blue.  I don't know.  Maybe a thin chrome pinstripe along the seam rather than the chrome trim.

The blue, the chrome, the apes... dude, nice work!

I got the bars from an ebay store called biker haven.

Diamond Jim, I totally agree about the mirrors. That is actually next on my list as well as the chrome trim. I just asked someone the other day who had the trim on thier bike where he got it.

Thanks for the brake line tip. I was trying to figure out what to do about that.

Haha and the flip flops.... well what can I say.

Along with the mirros and the trim, I'm also going to get new grips and pegs, and I want a new headlight. I really think one of those bullet shaped headlights that stick out would look really sweet. Any ideas?

Great looking bike, but I have to make one suggestion about this thread. Don't buy those mirrors that Diamond Jim mentioned for two reasons:

1. The body is made of plastic and they will shake around so much that you won' be able to see anything behind you at over 40 mph.

2. Because they are plastic, mine vibrated the glass out one day when I was accelerating from a stop. Its just glued in there so it fell out and broke on the pavement.

Just my two cents. - Oh, and that chrome trim you can get at Napa or Advanced Auto for like $3.
