Dunlop K555 vs. D404

What are the differences ( grip, handling, smoothness, wear) in the Dunlop K555 and the D404? The D404 seems to be the most popular here.

I use the K555 on my bagger as it is OE on the heavier Honda PC800 (water cooled Vtwin shaft drive with full body made for 2 up running) and have been very satisified with it traction and durability wise. Max

I have heard that the K555 uses a harder rubber compound than the D404s and they are not real good in the rain. Does anyone have any experience with these tires as for as grip in rain? Do they wear longer?

From my records. Metzler 880 lasted 8 K, 1st K555 went 10K and still had some life when I went to Maxxis White Wall = 6K. Now on my 2nd K555. Seems like I had the Dunlop on on the trip to FSSNOC Rally in Wyoming and we drove through weather from 90+ deg dry to rain and snow and back to 105 deg w/o any traction concerns. Some rain was in the twisties along a river and the rain/snow was over a 9000ft+ pass.  I'd replace this one with another when the time comes. Max

Thanks for the feedback. My rear stock IRC only gave me 4000 mi. I just bought the K555 140/80B 15. Its not broke in yet so I haven't pushed it, but it is smooth and rides well. Payed 100.00 for the tire and 50.00 for mount (Off the bike), new tube, and balance. I was just concerned about wet weather handling and milage. thanks again
