It can but it won't operate as both a tail light and brake light.  You need three wires for both functions to work.  Mine is a three wire that but I've got it wired as a dedicated tail light.  I've got separate LEDs that are a dedicated brake light.

Bam figured it out by adding a third wire. pretty easy actually. If i could figure out how to post pics I would cause it looks like it is gonna be a great side mount liscence plate tail light combo for my bobber project.  Smiley

I haven't investigated or tried that.  How did he run the third wire?  Did the connect the brake (3rd) wire to the same place where the tail light wire connects and therefore add more current when the brake light switches are activated?

Tail light I bought was a dual filament bulb setup. I added the third wire by mounting it to one of the screws that holds the actual light assembly into the tail light housing. ( I beleive this to be a simple ground), May have been just dumb luck but when I found the right combination to the existing wiring harness it worked perfect. Compared the current draw to that of the stock tail light with no difference. Like I said probably just dumb luck but need that every once in a while  Cheesy
