Fork Braces

First, my apologies for not posting this in the Market Place but while it is a “product” it isn’t meant to be.  I only do them to help the Group.

The latest batch of F/Bs is complete & ready for shipping.  Unfortunately, it was a very low yield.   As previously mentioned, I’ve installed new vices on my mill and am now “coming to terms” w/ them.  In the learning curve, 2 sets ended up a tad short in the fender clearance area.

As I don’t have a bike here to trial fit I can’t guaranty that they will clear the top of the fender.  The clearance between the top of the slider and the bottom of the X-bar is 0.240”.  The regular F/B measures 0.375” - a difference of a tick over 0.125”.  Rather than scrap them, I’ll cut $10 off the price of these 2 sets.  If interested, lay a straight edge across the top of the sliders and see if there’s a 1/4” between it and the top of the fender.  If so, yer in business.

The first 2 people to respond via direct e-mail get ‘em - tkat@tkat.com.

Other than those, All the rest went to people on the waiting list.  But yes, in all fairness, there will be another run @ the present price.  The material is in house and just waiting for a break to get whittled on.

As before, I’ll post when ready.

Here are some new golf terms to add to your vocabulary.

*Paris Hilton* - a very expensive hole.

*Rock Hudson * -it looked straight, but wasn't.

*Saddam Hussein* - from one bunker into another.

*Yasser Arafat* - butt ugly and in the sand.

*Princess Grace* - should have used a driver.

*Princess Di* - shouldn't have used a driver.

TKat,
I only dry fitted my brace but there is way over 1/4" clearance.

Unless someone beats me to it, I'll take pictures with a steel rule after work so you can see.

Funny stuff there TKat.

If there is a bit of a fender'/brace conflict, it's strong enough to allow for some Clearance filed in, isnt it? Marking a radius on it & filing to the line shouldnt be too tough, surely the conflict isnt more than 1/8th?

Click image to for bigger view.

Shots from my 2001

First image is the std clearance.  Looks like approx 0.4 inch, just over 3/8" , so 1/8" off should leave approx 1/4".  Enough room to get something under it to clean.   Can you see that I didn't have it perfectly lined up....  but real close....

Second image is holding a straight edge across the lower part of the clamps.  Not much room.... but there is room.....

TMack: Good pics. The clearance on the bottom brace is about all I have with my Superbrace. I have been wondering about the clearance comparison between the two braces.

Tkat: I hope you have your paperwork in at the U.S. Patent Office; you definitely have a winner!
