I found a piece of plastic & built a shim that put the rubber tighter & shut the slosh overflow down.

I made a key from a cut up credit card from the tool box cylinder.
Works on the tool box, but not the gas cap.
the tool box cyl works from the knotches on the back side of the key.
whereas the gas cap works from the front.
being that my key is a flimsey 1/4" strip of plastic with no keyway to provide alignment, I'm relieing on the backside for alignment.
I'm seeing indications of something trying to cut the card in 2.

I guess I need to disassemble the other cap I have.

Go in & remove the pins, then you can use anything.

Well, before ya stick it ON, test & make sure you can open it. I lost one of the parts inside my hel;met lock, it still works fine. I susopect all the little pieces that Fit to the key & make the lok NEED a key can be removed, then, it pught to turn with anything, screwdriver, knife, whatever.

Won't it be crowd'd in there?   Grin

I have the tool box and ignition to go with it, so I can get the code and have a key made, aside from the $30 to do it.

If you don't have either, than you can take it to a lock smith or break the lock

Pick the lock. Put enough pressure down to relieve the drag on the retractable locking pins that engage the tank, take a thin piece of metal & put a 90 in it, but its gotta be stouot enough to rotate the lock, then rake the inside of the cylinder, from bottom to top, over & over, with a small wire while holding a twist on the lock. When a lock pin lines up, it will stay if you are twisting hard enough. Mioght take a few minutes, but usually, locks like these will let go.
