I rode L.A. to OKC and back in Sept. '07.  No floorboards and my feet were killing me as bad or worse than the butt.  Floorboards are also in my future, tho' I haven't started looking into any specifics.

HAY EYEORE

I BEEN LOOKING ON E-BAY AT THE UNIVERSAL MOUNT.  DID YOU HAVE TO ADD THE LITTLE TAB (STOP) OR HOW DID THAT WORK?

I have full size, adjustable HD style floorboards on my savage.  They are the greatest thing!  Not a straight swap, but a doable project if you're up to the challenge.

The design was my brother's idea.  I asked him to weld stops on the bottom of the bracket that goes into the peg holder.  But he came of with the idea of reversing the bracket and drilling holes for screws.  The second picture shows a temporary screw he put in.  He replaced it with a set screw that was cut down.  You can see those in the last two pictures.  You can also see that the bike is much dirtier now...

The ones I bought were a direct fit to the factory mounting tabs. The additional mod I made was a thin washer on the mounting peg before i installed ithem on to the bike.

where did you get the floorboards? Is the bracket you speak of the part attached to the heat sheild? If so, how did you mount to the left side? Do you have a "how to" post?

I bought these (currently $65, I paid $85):
http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000135a~Z5Z5Z5...

No how to yet.  But planning a post as soon as I can shoot pictures and get some details from my brother.  Basically, there is nothing other than the stock peg mounts and all the hardware from the floorboards.  The floorboards are HD peg replacements with the bottom of the "peg piece" flat and the top rounded.  If you put them in that way there is no bottom support since the expect a flat piece on the mount at the bottom to rest on.  I wanted my brother to weld on a tab for the bottom support.  Instead, he came up with a better idea of turning the "pegs" over and drilling and installing a set screw through the stock savage mounts.  His way gives support and are adjustable to the proper angle.

I'll post a "how to" in a few days.

Just a thought, but this is what I did.....
I got a set of HD heel rests and used those. Cost was cheaper than floor boards, and they are not as bulky. Cleaner look I guess.....
Anyways, just my two cents
