Just a reminder...

I know that most of you dont need to hear this but for all you new riders and members to the forum, make sure you do your regular maintenance. Check over your bike every now and then for any loose bolts, nuts or parts. I have been slacking a little bit in this area. The past couple weeks things just started to come loose from my bike. My helmet lock fell off somewhere down the road. I also found my right rear turn signal hanging loose when i got home from work one night. Then while at work I was looking for a rattling noise and found that my muffler bolt came  out and the other was not far behind it. So today i decided to give it a good looking over and I think that the whole reason that all this stuff came loose was because my top engine mount bolt was loose. This caused some excessive vibration that im sure caused all this other stuff to come loose. So in conclusion just keep up with your bike if you want to keep it on the road and you will be much happier and safer. And it will also keep more money in your pocket by preventing the more costly repairs later on.  Wink

Two words:   BLUE LOCKTITE

Whenever you install or re-tighten something.

Anything that loosens from the thumping of the engine or the riding of the bike will do it again!  And if something is a chronic offender, consider taking a cue from our dirt bike and sailing buddies and consider safety wire, drilling through and cotter pins!

And remember Blue -- the one that says "Can be removed with hand tools"  the red stuff needs to be heated up with a propane torch!  (And be especially careful with their competitors products -- the product is OK, but the color coding may be different.)

yes blue works well

I still have a problem in my future I guess - see I shaved the head a little on this 2-stroke engine and it kept blowing the entire seals out of the crankcase - so a little red locktite on the seals have keep them in the case for several hundred hours - but one of these days......
