Troglobil - I'm glad those worked out for you, maybe I should have bought those instead!

Folks, I did something completely different - I put a metal ring on the OUTSIDE of the hippo hands, at the outside corner, and used leather rope to tie it taut to the turn signal post.  This was cheap, easy, and it WORKED!!  It looks a little primitive but there was no interference with the controls, and best of all - my hands were WARM this morning, WOOOHOO.
