new sparkplug

does anyone know if a champion 810 RA8HC plug will work in the Savage?  I tried to get an iridium plug but the local autozone, Oreillys, and Pepboys but no luck.. The counter guy at pepboys said this one will work and has a hotter spark because of a higher charcoal content???  is this ok?  I'm trying to combat a rich mix that i can't seem to adjust out.  FYI 86 Savage with 19K, new cam chain, stock pilot jet, 155 main, jardine sashcut, and Oldfeller filter.  Thanks

You do know that charcoal burns don't you!?!   Shocked

It maybe an ingrediant in steel, but it ain't there when it's finished.

Did you ever think about going down a jet size?   Roll Eyes

What difference does that Iridium spark plug really make. compared to a stock one? Can you feel a difference?

I'd like to know also. I have the champion and it it runs o.k. It seems as if it doesn't burn all the fuel. Plus I think i'm gonna go hotter as it is about to be winter time here in Va

Here's what Denso has to say about the features and benefits:

http://www.denso.com.au/products/aftermarket_automotive_components/spark_plug...

I would only change plugs if mine was fouling and I had tried everything else. Hotter is not always better, just as higher octane is not always useful.

I put it in last night and drove the 30 mile round trip to work today.  So far no trouble i will take it in a week or so and have a look.  It seemed to run a little smoother at idle, time will tell.
