Cut Off When Downshifting (Read 68 times)

Justin12 YaBB Newbies Offline SuzukiSavage.com Rocks! Posts: 2	Cut Off When Downshifting 09/08/08 at 19:38:53 I have a 2003 Savage with approx 1,000miles. Occasionally the engine will shut off when I'm downshifting to come to a stop. It usually does it when the engine is cold. Any help is appreciated.

California Gender:	Re: Cut Off When Downshifting Reply #1 - 09/08/08 at 19:41:29 I bet the idle speed is a little low. it's normal for the engine to run a little slow when cold and also goes slower when you roll off the throttle when coming to a stop.

I am always fiddling with the idle speed. I think I need to trim the white washer a hair, But, that aside, I use the choke until it's warm enough to not die at a stop, but even then, it slows a bit, so I jack the idle up to satisfy my ear that its running fast enough to oil the top end well. After the bike is fully warm, it's idling a bit high & I turn it down a bit.
