Apparently engine degreaser or carb cleaner works well for removing primer.

Is that you in the pic?...Don't look happy...
Not entirely clear on the post,...but it don't sound good...Brake fluid is wicked too...
But every accident is just an excuse to customize a little more.

Its actually a good thing...its a real paintjob that was hidden under a really bad rattlecan primer.

I really didn't get very many compliments when the bike was black.  Literally as soon as I was removing the black to reveal this color, I had people walking by telling me that they liked it.
