Need some help!
08/14/08 at 08:24:44

Hello all,

I just upgraded my wife's '05 with the jetset from Lancer and don't know if everything is set properly. The bike has a Jardine pipe and the stock airbox/filter.

I've currently have a 150 main and drilled pilot jet installed. I have removed the white spacer and installed (2) #4 washers. My mixture screw is turned approximatley 3/4 to 1 turn out to have a smooth idle.

When riding at a steady pace, the bike feels like it's surging and doesn't have much power. When I get off the throttle, I still get a backfire, not like before, but a backfire just the same. And sometimes when I get off the throttle, the bike shuts off (dies).

I went through all the tips on setting up the carb and adjusting the mixture, but this is getting furstrating!  Angry

Any of you gurus out there care to lend a hand?

drilled pilot jet - you mean the one w/the emulsion holes (what size pilot jet?) or one that has been drilled out to a larger size?

surging and lack of accel usually is white spacer, take out another washer.

smooth idle with still a pop... on shut down?  I'd richen that up a bit 1/8" turn.

Yes, the one with the emulsion holes.

No pop on shut down, only when I let off the gas in any gear.

some pop is ok just as long as it don't go kerpow!

check the header bolts and muff clamp.  air leaks will cause a pop.
