Reply #75 - 08/04/08 at 20:04:12 Blacksheep, I've only gone for a quick ride so far but it doesn't feel to much different as I had the shocks set on the stiffest setting anyway, but I do like the way it rides and looks with the rear end dropped a couple of inches.

Ok got the rear fender painted and mounted. Even though I really loved the look of the rigid struts after riding around some more it was just too rough on the roads around here so I have put my shocks back on but I think it still looks ok.

I usualy leave the bobber thread alone because as far as I'm conserned there is nothing as ugly as a bobber,it's not a cafe racer,it's not a chopper (also ugly) it's somewhere out there in the twilight zone.
I guess I should keep my mouth shut they are your bikes and you can do what ever the heck you want to do with them.
How about a Cafe Racer? the biggest problem with that is the wheel base ,way to long, any one have an idea if there is another frame that will fit our beast? or visa versa ?

I find nothing ugly about a bobber (even the goldwing bobber I saw). They have a bit more of an outlaw look to them and really do go back to a simpler time where we didn't need all the flashy plastic and overworked metal on bikes. Back to when bikes were there to ride and not there to be looked at as a trophy.

As far as a cafe out of a Savage? It's completely the wrong build for it. I mean it could be done but it would look completely wrong.

I like this one better but it's just a Savage engine in another frame. Personally I have seen few bobbers that I would consider ugly. But that is just me, I like cafe racers, bobs and oddball customs.

Every bike you talk about is a different time/place in history.
Bobbers 40's-50's racers of their day
choppers60's-70's guys saying f u to Hd.
cafe(popular in the UK)60's-70's Race from a cafe
rat bikes 2000's ummm...whatever, making it look old
Each one had it's own significants in time.back in the 40's you couldn't go buy a crotchrocket.So strip down what you had,and go racing.
But,most people don't understand.
I don't think Triumph meant the Bonne' to be a cafe racer either.
Looking to see if someone makes another frame is exactly my point.
If you knew anything about the different styles,you would know,back in the day that's why it was called chopping/bobbing.Because you cut/removed parts,and made stuff fit or made the part by hand you needed.
Kinda what this site is all about in one form or another.

I personally could give a rat's a$$ if you like my bikes or not.I can't
fast enough to sell,so somebody likes'em. build them
