Your's probably backfires when you downshift too, Just like mine... Get used to it, Plus that little pop or poof when you turn it off sounds kinda cool..

backfire on shutdown is pretty common on a stock bike.
Usually can be reduced to a poof with an adjustment of the idle mixture screw. This little bugger comes plugged from the factory to prevent adjustment by the unskilled owner. In order to pass your 1st skill test, you must remove this plug w/o damaging the screw head underneath. 2nd skill test, find lancers instructions on how to adjust it. Grin

It can be adjusted to a minimum or eliminated with stock components. The danger in not "fixing" it is that it will shake something loose (exhaust) and then it will get worse. Begin by checking to make sure there are no leaks in the exhaust and then read about adjusting the idle mix. I ran my 2004 with a stock exhaust and only had to adjust the mixture, no new parts needed.

Then it made a sound like a shotgun and flames shot out of the pipe about 8-10 inches. Thats when I re-jetted and adjusted the idle mixture screw. It was much better after that. AL

Cuts the backfire, which on my bike sounded much like a cannon

Before I bypassed the sidestand safety switch, I used to pull up next to cagers & rev it, drop my left heel on the sidestand Juust a bit, let it up & KER POweee,,,It was handy at stoplights when someone thiought I should enjoy their cRap music, too.

Straight outta the "No WAY that really happened" column. I saw a car with the stereo so loud I could see the deck lid shaking, I got closer & the driver, obviously REAlly enjoying his music, wearing earplugs.. What kinda weirdo DOES that?

Sidestand safety switch? Was gonna try a wall burn out for a buddy the other week in the garage...when the bike wouldn't crank over while still on the stand. Uh..he had to suggest it was probably the kickstand safety switch. What an embarrasement that was. When did they start putting those on bikes and does it say anything in the manual about them? Not that I've read the manual.... yet.

Anyways...now I'm anxious to try your stoplight trick. Thanks
