not sure I understand - you hit the start button while in gear with the clutch pulled in on a cold engine and it jumped a bit? - sounds proper to me

I have never had it jump like that before. Because when you have the clutch pushed in it is in neutral correct?

Did you put the clutch release pin back in? It is easy for it to fall out when you remove or handle the RH (Clutch side) case cover. Max

Details????

By Plug/cap do you meant the one inside the head cover?

If the bike moved when you hit the starter, then the clutch cable is out of adjustment or some other clutch issue.  The interlock switch is at the clutch lever, and on a normally adjusted bike, the interlock will not let the starter buttom do anything if the lever is not in far enugh to make contact with the switch.  But if it's out of adjustment....  you might make contact with the switch but still have the clutch slighly engaged.

Question, with the bike off,  and bike in gear, and clutch lever pulled in, can you roll the bike?
