Center stand for 2008 S40

Has anyone designed or made a packable or permanent center stand for an S40? If not, is there a commercially manufactured one? There are 4 holes in a bracket where you would think one should be that are crying out for a center stand. I was NOT happy to see the bike didn't come with one.

Would not mount anything to that. Way to flimsy. It's for the California emmission canister.

I thought the same thing and welded up a proto type stand and installed it and that bracket is way to weak but I still haven't given up ,once I get something workable will post with details..Dave

A centre stand is a very useful thing to have, but the comments above about needing solid attachment cannot be overstated.
Take a look at bikes with centrestands, and how heavy the attachments are (and the stands themselves).
The stand's attachment points have to be strong enough to take the weight of bike, fuel and rider, plus have enough stiffness in reserve not to twist/flex when somebody walks into it or when you're working on it, so we're talking heavy steel and big brackets.
It would need heavy welding and the mounts/stand would be heavy, probably adding at least 10-15lb to the weight of the bike. It's surprising how heavy centrestands are in order to be stiff enough to do the job, even on relatively light bikes - that's why manufacturers ditch them.

Thanks for the useful comments. I'll have to give this some more study and try to come up with another idea for a centerstand.
