fifth gear question (Read 169 times)

vargas Junior Member Offline SuzukiSavage.com Rocks! Posts: 70	fifth gear question 05/24/08 at 04:21:56 does the shifter have to "click" into fifth? I have an '07 s40 and tho the gearshift lifts after 4th ,i don't feel a click like i sometimes do. I keep in 4th till over 40 mph and usually don't feel the click till i've slowed back down to 35 mph with the clutch in. am i in fifth gear without the click?

I will shift from 4th into 5th and I will shift pretty firm and sometimes it will click and sometimes it doesn't. I have no idea why it is like that, Mine is an 05 and my Dad has an 06 and it does the exact same thing. Other times it must just fall in at the right time and be really smooth.

It doesn't shift into it with any authority and I find myself rechecking to make sure it really went into 5th gear. I wish 5th was more of a highway gear instead it feels only slightly different from 4th. I'm still getting used to my S40, Owned for 3 weeks so far!
