HELP! Clymer/Savage discrepentcy
05/22/08 at 23:17:05

I'm doing the valves. In VROOM1776's (excellent by the way) treatment of valve clearance, it's stated that the clearance should be 0.08-0.13mm; however, in the Clymer manual it states the clearance is 0.008-0.013mm. This is from the LS650 Savage/Boulevard S40 1986-2007 manual, under "Tune Up Specifications" page X, at the front of the book. I can find no other reference to the clearance specifications anywhere else in the book.
HEEEELP! Which one is correct? I tend to believe VROOM1776, but definately don't want to mess this up.
Thanks for the help.Smiley

Whew! Thanks REELTHING. I do have the feeler guages, and have done a valve clearance inspection before; just not on the Savage. Thanks for the info. I thought maybe my guage wasn't up to the job, even though 0.008 would be tissue paper thin. That's why I asked. It seemed too wierd, but not something I wanted to chance. I knew I could count on the forum members to set it straight. Well, I guess there's one more thing to add to the Clymer error page in the tech section.
Thanks again. I really appreciate it.
