Holy cow, whats with all the PGH connections lately???

What part of town are you from, Mike??

If you want a Harley muff, I have a sportster model sitting in my garage.  If you're interested, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

Hey Skrapiron,

I'm "from" Pittsburgh, North Park area, but I don't live there any more. One thing I liked about this muffler was no welding on tabs, etc required, it was all ready to bolt on. I have a lot of projects going on and no time so I'll spend a couple bucks to save a couple hours. Appreciate your offer though.

Some Harley Mufflers require no welding or alteration and bolt right up to the existing Savage bracket.  I got mine cheap from Ebay.

Do a search for "dyna muffler".  You'll find that you can get two for that price and then you can sell one to a forum member.

Here's a hyperlink to the search (I'm starting to get better at these inserts  Grin)

Click> Dyna Muffler

Mine was not one of those, Gort.

I think it would be ETERNALLY beneficial to anyone considering a Harley muff conversion if SOMEONE would simply post the direct-fit, no mods needed Harley Muff part number.  Maybe even make it a sticky or put it in the tech section.

That way, the next time someone (like me) starts looking at replacing the stock muff, they can come here and we can say 'Why yes.  You need to order p/n XXXXXX."  Instead,  we'll have the same question asked a billion times and unlucky folks like me end up buying the wrong muffler.  I got mine to work, but I certainly would have liked it better if it were a plug-and-play installation.

I called up all of the Harley dealers here in San Diego. Every one of em told me they weren't allowed to release pull off parts for some sort of legal reason they couldn't explain. So I ended up buying a pair off of eBay. Not too bad I think, two sportster pipes for $55 bones, 22 of that was shipping across country. I just hope they sound good, probably put the extra one up in the sales forum...

FYI for some of you who may be in my neck of the woods and are looking for pulloffs...

I live in the Portland, OR area and we have a HD dealership that keeps their own warehouse with pulloff parts. Their name is Latus HD. The warehouse is near PDX airport and is only open on Tues - Sats, 9-5pm.  The warehouse phone # is 503-284-2262. For those of you not local to me, I don't know if they ship parts or not but you can always call and give it a try.  Smiley

Thats right...Harley  DYNA muffler.  Look how cheap they are on Ebay.  Mine bolted right up to the existing Savage bracket, and slipped onto the Savage header pipe using a H.D. clamp.  No leaks, no welds, no grinding.  Easy job. I've had it on for about a year or so.

The less expensive ones are the realistic take off's. The $150 ones are either people trying to get retail for used parts or ARE new parts.

NOTE: In 2006 some Harley models started to use catalytic mufflers.  My friends '06 Dyna Wide Glide with Fuel injection is one of them.

I am not sure how this type of muffler would affect the LS650.
