Hello all, I'm the new guy in town ready for some serious giving and taking of advise. I come to you from the world of sportbikes. Honda VFR, Yamaha YZF750, Superhawk, RC51...you get the picture. I remember when the LS650 first came out. My dad wanted one, while I was lusting after the Yamaha Fazer (remember those?).
So now I'm all grown up. Took five years off from riding, but now I'm back. I looked at all kinds of starter bikes in search of simplicity. Rebel 250, 250 Ninja, etc. Then I saw a familiar name on Craig's List. Savage. Intrigued, I checked it out and bought it on the spot. A nice yellow 2000 model with under 6k mi.
This has to be the most babied bike there is. The guy I got it from had my gaydar up. I guess it's the closest thing to being female owned, while still being male maintained. And for future reference, the bike fit in the back of my Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Just had to remove the two bolts for the handlebars. Rolled her in, tied her down and drove home with it. I still can't believe I'm talking about racing an RC51 and now driving a minivan. Oh how the times change...
Anyway, I'm in the far NW Burbs of Chicago if anyone's interested. I live alone with a cat and three ferrets.
Back to bikes. The darn shift linkage broke. Looks like it was stuck in fifth gear a few times and the linkage broke where it bends at the shift shaft. Part on order for eight bucks. Oh well, these things happen. Plus it will give me time for my wireless Sigma tripmeter to come in the mail.
That should be enough rambling for now. I will now sink back into the depths of lurking.
