That's a good question.

From what I've read so far in this thread, the S40 doesn't seem to hold its value nearly as well as the Honda Rebel I own.  That's a bit scary since there don't seem to be many of these in the Baton Rouge area (where I live). I'd love to find a used one for sale within, say, 250 miles of here. NOTE: I don't have an S40 yet, and I'm not planning to sell my Rebel when I get one.

I'm guessing that most owners/members would not recommend buying new because of the price, and with the economy in the doldrums, it's looking like the MSRPs of most things will be going WAY UP.
