To date:
$1200 for a stock '99 (well almost stock, it has a MAC muffler on it)
$50 for two new turn signals
$50 (as best as I can remember) for risers and drag bars
$120 for pegs and rubber (tires were old, I broke three of them)
$160 for new tires
$80 for new brake pads front and rear (2 sets front, 1 set rear, caliper was sticking)
$160 for a stock cam chain and tensioner from the dealership
$105 for a complete Vesrah gasket kit (in case I needed it)
$80 ? (I don't recall what they cost per each, help me out here) for two of the new and improved can chains when I need them
sooooooooo... grand total
Roughly 2,000 for the reliable, fun bike I ride almost every day.
Not bad, considering that most of the riders I know didn't even purchase their bikes for less than $5K.
I am working on the bobber modifications right now. By the time I get done with them, I will maybe have another $500 in (I am going cheap, I like the rat-style bikes). Not bad for a custom ride I did myself.
I am planning on a trailer fender, custom made license plate bracket, old-skool taillight, smaller turn signals, either a larger headlight or duals, a sissy bar (which doubles as fender struts), rejet, new pod filter from Lancer, grease trap mod on said filter, and a spring-mounted seat.
I forgot the new caliper seals and the brake cleaner to clean out the caliper. Toss in another $10. I'm still golden!
This does not include the new helmet I had to purchase when I decided to see how fast i could do figure-8's in the church parking lot up the street. Or the doctor visit to tell me I had a bad ankle sprain. Or the antiseptic to clean out the rash on my hand. Why yes, I had had too many beers, why do you ask?
