Old 1987 savage

Hi, I'm looking at buying an older 1987 savage and I havn't been able to find much information on it.  I've heard nothing but great things about the reliability and whatnot of the post 95 savages but very little about pre 1989 bikes except that they have a four speed.  What differences are there in the savages before 1987 and after 1995?

I ride a 1988 4-speed, and get 70mpg, freeway riding at 55mph.

Good enough ?  Wink

There's a thread in the Tech ref forum that lists many of the known differences between various years.

I also have an 87 and I love it. Get anywhere from 53-67 mpg on it.
