S40 seat compatible with '96?
03/11/08 at 15:01:08
I saw a 2005 S40 seat for sale on e-bay and I was wondering if it's compatible with a '96 savage. I thought I would ask before bidding.

No. It wont fit without modifications to the mounting points and brackets. If you're comfortable grinding, drilling and tapping then its a realtively easy conversion. But it is not a plug and play installation.

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I think it's somewhat compatible. Of course someone with will know best.
The mounting is different as it's a one piece seat vs. 2 piece.
But the shape will match up well.

I replaced my two piece 2001 seat with a 07 one piece..... Why, My 13 year old son said the '01 rear seat was stiff. I was at the stealership and felt the floor model and realized yea, he was right.
1) At the rear bolt down bracket on the 07, I put a rubber bumper since I didn't want to drill a hole in my shiny fender.
2) Getting the one piece on is an exercise of patience and sliding the front in from the side.
3) the left & right bolts line up fine.....
Sorry, don't have pict's with new seat....
