After selling my 650 savage in the u.k. (I was gutted) I emigrated and brought one in NZ (Stoked!) However my one in the U.K.   had a straight through exhaust which sounded great, my one here has a standard factory exhaust which does not make enough noise. I was wondering if it is possible  to cut off the end of the muffler or if you have to make major adjustments to the carb (intake etc.) any advise most welcome.

Changing the muffler to straight pipe or free flowing muffler, It would be highly advisable to make adjustments to the fuel mixture.

Fuel to Air mixture is a balancing act.  Let more air in (free flowwing mod's) then you should get some more fuel in too.

use the search feature for mufflers, carb tuning..
if memory servs gutting/ modifing the stock (george jetson) muff does not reap sufficient results..
am not familiar w/ NZ(are other  NZ ers on this site) but if you have access to used harley parts most non cross over hd pipes will improve on the stock set up(WITH CARB TUNING)..or
visit local muff shop for 1 3/4" tubing and fab your own
with or w/o added baffles from various catalogue sources..happy wrenching/tuning and WELCOME...
p.s. use the search feature & get a manual
