This a.m fitted new clutch cable (can now pull with two fingers rather than two HANDS!) and changed oil and filter. No glitches whatsoever! All went to plan. Bit too easy for peace of mind, really: presumably any and every future small job will take on nightmare proportions!

Although it does have a rigid elbow/sleeve at the lever end while the one I removed has just a normal outer cable throughout. Got it from wemoto spares here in UK.
