battery box change?

anybody ever removed the airbox and put the battery in it's place? was thinking about adding a pod filter and thought that if i put the battery in there it would clean it up a bit visually.

B-i-L's 88 came that way and it looks nice. Battery is turned 90 deg and tucked back inside. It was loose and I had to fabricate a retaining bracket when it got here, it appeared they modified the OE base and case but not very nicely. I'm just not sure of the flltering ability of the cone filter as it isn't a K & N and doesn't have any brand information on it. I tried running it oiled and it seemed to choke the engine badly so cleaned the oil off and just run it dry, given the amount of dirt that gets past the OE flat filter probably doesn't matter much.
