Welcome.  That's a good one.  You've mastered middle age because you've been doing it a long time.  Very humorous.

Maybe you can teach us the secret of Easy Money.

As I said in the other thread, I hope you get the leak squared away soon and can do some riding now that the weather is oppressively hot and humid.

So, I'm the FNG (Fairly New Guy).
I am a middle-aged man and I have been middle-aged long enough to be good at it. I am married to a hot young chick, and am lucky enough to have been married to her for 54 years and counting. We have two kids, nine grandchildren, and one great-grand child.
We retired from our own custom window blind business in Maryland a few years ago and moved to Florida.
I have owned a KZ 750, a KZ 1000 and a Voyager xii, but have been off two wheels a few years. I just bought a somewhat bobbed 2013 S40 and a big box of parts.
    Let the party begin.

Hi all, I'm Luc from Madison WI. I've been pretty religiously reading this forum for a few months since I got my first bike: an '05 S40 that hadn't run in 5 years or so. Though I am a mechanic by trade, apparently carburetors are beyond me so I still haven't been able to get it running right  :'(. I'll be putting up another thread with my situation and issues so if you happen to see it and have some advice I'd appreciate it!

Hey all. Figured it was time I introduced myself.  I'm 54 retired army diesel mechanic.  I've been turning wrenches most of my life.working on bikes is a different animal to me though, even though the principles of the engine are the same it's still a different beast.
My bike is an 03 LS650 14k miles. In the process of getting it fully road worthy. Thanks for reading

Hello all, I am a new rider that wanted to introduce myself to meet some people that have a similar bike to me. I have a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard s40 and came to love the bike and wanted to meet people with similar bikes. If anyone has any tips or things I should know I'd love to hear them.

Welcome to the Savage site.  There are plenty of good and knowledgeable folks here who can help/guide you through anything you may want or need to do to your bike.
A couple of points for now: check oil level with bike upright, not on the side stand; and don’t let the engine idle for more than a couple of minutes while on the side stand.

Welcome nadouglas19

Oh yea , keep the idle up above 1000 rpm so oil keeps making the trip all the way up to the head .

Low pressure/high volume oil system so oil doesn't want to find a leak is good , but it's a long way to the top of the head !

I got a 2012 a couple years ago with under 1000 as well.  I wouldn't say it was a steal, but it looks like new.  I had to do a lot of work to get it ready for the road.  Haha - what kind of dealer reads 821.1 as 8211?  You got a nice surprise at any rate.

Hi Y'all! Just picked up a super 2000 Savage converted into a Ryca CS-1 with additional customization. Needs a little work, but it is a sweet little Cafe racer.

I live in the DFW, Texas area and have a few other bikes to play with, old and new, but I've been dreaming of the CS-1 ever since Ryca came out with the kit.
Been riding since 1984, and my 1st bike was a '75 Yamaha RD350B (which I still have) that tried to kill me on my 1st ride.  The next was a new '82 Yamaha XT200 dual-sport which I rode to death, lol. Then a Honda Shadow 500 that was a fun little bike until it was stolen. Next was an '83 Honda Magna V65 that I almost killed myself on multiple times because I had never learned what counter-steering was, and could not control the beast at high speeds.  I sold that for a '90 Honda CB-1 400cc i4 little bomb that I started racing in the WERA/CRRC Texas road racing club. Attended the California Superbike School a few times and met Keith Code. That's where I learned how to ride a bike fast. Smiley Raced a number of bikes until I won the CMRA Formula Two-Stroke class championship in 1997 on my modified 1985 Yamaha RZ350, and took 2nd place nationally in the WERA class.
Many other bikes have come and gone, and now I am kinda slowing down with a couple 2001 Kawasaki W650 twins and an '06 Bonneville T100.  Just recently picked up an '09 Suzuki DRZ400SM to get my hooligan vibe on, and a 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe for highway work and trips.

Already posted pics and made my introduction in the Cafe section:

Looking forward to learning more about this cool bike.

Hi All,

Just joined the forum although I've had my S40 for a few years and miles already.

Bike needs some attention and this seems to be the place with all the knowledge.

Sold off a couple of my project cars this year, needed to clear out garage space for the new Willy's Jeep project as well as the S40 which is about to get taken apart.

Thanks in advance to all for the knowledge and support!

Hey y'all.  Flint Texas here, originally from Detroit Mi.  Been here for 14 years now and love it.
So bout my first bike ever about 4 months ago.  I think it, well the title i can't register says 2007 suzuki boulevard LS650.   Actually having a hard time finding LS650 after 2005 i beleive.  I'm going to attach video of the bike.  I love the thing and love this site.  I've been reading and reading and have no idea how to work on a bike but y'all have been teaching me indirectly.  Well i'm coming out of the woodwork for some one on one.
I continue to make mistakes ordering parts that are not a fit which either i'm complete idiot or something is off with this title.  I've changed the oil few times and added the cam chain extension bar done locally by a welder...not a good as what ive seen on here.  I've change the spark plug and am almost tiny bit embarassed when i decelerate because people be ducking the gun shots ringin out....we live in a different world folks...lol.
I've changed the petcock 3 times, kept ordering wrong parts so finally ordered the raptor and put that on yesterday but added some seal because it started leaking when i put the stock one back on after realizing wrong part ordered....so today i got my Mukuni VM36-4 and  flange and off course no way does that part go on my bike.  There is a mukuni on it currently that lives against the battery box it's so tight in there.  I've wrapped the shortes tail pipe i've ever seen...lol   it's a neighbor lover...haha.
She gets up and goes i tell ya...suprisingly and i've had her up to 85 with room to go but no guts to go faster yet.  Oh just bought a new rear tire to replace the 140/90 and 150/90 showed up so wth i'll try it and see...
Thanks for listening and Jog...I'll call ya this weekend coming up if your available.
